Dr. Roto’s Daily Prescription 8/25: Fantasy Implications of Jerry Jeudy’s Hamstring Injury

Dr. Roto gives a breakdown of what Jerry Jeudy’s hamstring injury means for his fantasy outlook and that of the other Broncos receivers.

Horrible news out of Broncos camp on Thursday as WR Jerry Jeudy was carted out of practice with an injured hamstring. Jeudy is thought to have a Grade II strain which would put him out for about six weeks.

A quick breakdown of the types of hamstring injuries:

  • Grade I: The mildest of strains like a mild muscle pull. Most players return in two to three weeks.
  • Grade II: A more pronounced strain (partial muscle tear) which requires four to eight weeks of recovery time.
  • Grade III: A complete muscle tear. Sometimes up to 15 weeks of recovery (often season-ending).

I highly doubt that even if Jeudy returns in six weeks he will be instantly effective. Not only will he need time to ramp up his activity, but his susceptibility to re-injuring it is much greater.

As of right now, rookie WR Marvin Mims is expected to join Courtland Sutton in the starting lineup. Other names to watch on the depth chart are Brandon Johnson and Marquez Callaway. Fantasy managers are familiar with Callaway from his time in New Orleans but he really has not done anything of note since 2021. I think this also might put TE Greg Dulcich more into play as he can line up as a receiver due to his speed.
