Dr. Roto’s Daily Prescription: FSGA Expert Fantasy Football Draft Breakdown

Doc gives a breakdown of each of his picks from yesterday’s FSGA Expert Fantasy Football draft.

The FSGA Experts Central League had its draft yesterday — you can see the full results here — but I want to give a more in-depth breakdown of my own picks.

Admittedly I went off-brand and did EXACTLY what I said I would not do yesterday in this space, taking more than one player at both start-one positions, quarterback and tight end. But in my defense, you have to take what the draft gives you, and if value presents itself, you take it. You will notice that I only took the second TE in Round 14, and the second QB in the final round. Here is my full team with my thoughts on each pick:

Round 1: WR Ja’Marr Chase Roto, Cincinnati Bengals

This pick was made for me. I was going to take him or Justin Jefferson, and Jefferson went first overall.

Round 2: WR Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints

Olave was outstanding as a rookie and should be even better with Derek Carr.

Round 3: WR Keenan Allen Roto, Los Angeles Chargers

My second Roto Child of the draft! It is always hard to pass on Allen in a PPR format.

Round 4: QB Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

I debated taking Burrow in Round 3 for the hookup with Chase. He was a no-brainer pick when he reached me in Round 4.

Round 5: RB J.K. Dobbins, Baltimore Ravens

My first RB, Dobbins was simply the player I wanted the most at this point.

Round 6: RB David Montgomery, Detroit Lions

Detroit should be better this year, and Montgomery slips right into the Jamaal Williams scoring role, which produced a league-leading 17 rushing TDs last season.

Round 7: TE Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons

How was he even available at this point? With his athleticism and talent, Pitts could be a top-three overall TE and I got him as the seventh off the board.

Round 8: WR Elijah Moore, Cleveland Browns

I’m convinced that Deshaun Watson will use Moore a ton this season. He never quite clicked in New York but has plenty of talent.

Round 9: WR Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions

I might need to wait a few weeks for his return from suspension, but I love having landed him at a discount come playoff time.

Round 10: RB Tank Bigsby, Jacksonville Jaguars

I think the rookie has a real shot at seven TDs this season, if not more.

Round 11: RB Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons

With all the talk about Bijan, people forget that Allgeier ran for 1,000 yards as a rookie. He should still see work in this offense.

Round 12: RB Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears

The other rookie RB out of Texas, Johnson will play as a rookie. There is a slight chance he is already the RB1 for Chicago out of training camp.

Round 13: Dallas Cowboys Defense

The Cowboys are arguably the best defense in the league, so I’ll take them here.

Round 14: TE Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennesse Titans

As you know, I had no desire to take a second tight end, but Pitts hasn’t always stayed healthy, and before DeAndre Hopkins signed, Okonkwo was an eighth-round pick in fantasy drafts.

Round 15: K Harrison Butker, Kansas City Chiefs

I might as well have a kicker on the best offense in the league.

Round 16: QB Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts

Even though I didn’t plan on taking two quarterbacks, there was no way I could leave Richardson on the board. He has huge upside, and taking Rashid Shaheed or Marvin Mims was not making my team better.
