On Monday night, I did a best-ball draft on Drafters.com. I really like Drafters’ format, as it is 20 rounds (like a high-stakes league), and the winner is determined by total points accumulated over the season. Underdog is terrific, too, but you get placed into smaller leagues as the contest goes on, so it is way more random as to who wins and loses.
I was in a tough draft room surrounded by sharps all around. I had to pivot on more than one occasion. As many of you know, stacking is imperative in best ball leagues, and I was able to come up with three stacks, albeit not the ones I was hoping for when the draft started.
Here is my team with draft analysis. I had pick 6.
1.6 RB Bijan Robinson
I was a little surprised he fell to me at 1.6. His upside is the overall top player in fantasy this season.
2.8 RB De’Von Achane
It’s a best-ball league, and he might have four to five weeks with over 25+ points.
3.6 WR DK Metcalf
I am a big believer in Seattle OC Ryan Grubb’s new offense. Seattle will be throwing more than ever and DK is their WR1.
4.8 WR Terry McLaurin
I took TMC thinking I could pair him with Jayden Daniels and get tons of best-ball upside.
5.6 WR Chris Godwin
He’s back in the slot and should thrive.
6.8 TE Evan Engram
After I got sniped on Kincaid in Round 5, I pivoted to Engram in Round 6.
7.6 RB Zamir White
I expect 220 carries and a shot at 10 rushing TDs.
8.8 QB Jayden Daniels
I took him a little before ADP, but to win in best ball, a stack is critical, and I needed to avoid being sniped after grabbing TMC earlier.
9.6 WR Rashid Shaheed
Shaheed is a best ball monster. He flourishes against Cover 3 defenses.
10.8 RB Jerome Ford
I think Nick Chubb could miss the first six or seven games this season, and Ford looked pretty good last year.
11.6 WR Josh Downs
Every report from Colts camp is saying how well Downs and Richardson get along both on and off the field.
12.8 QB Baker Mayfield
Figured I would stack Baker with Godwin and take Otton later.
13.6 WR Darnell Mooney
Another solid best-ball WR. His inconsistency in redraft leagues doesn’t affect me at all in this format.
14.8 TE Cade Otton
I took him a round or two early, but now I have a small Bucs stack.
15.6 WR Luke McCaffrey
In case TMC gets hurt, I have his backup.
16.8 QB Derek Carr
On Drafters, I think a triple stack is a sneaky way to get a huge advantage. Plus, New Orleans plays Las Vegas in Week 17.
17.6 TE Ben Sinnott
Zach Ertz needs to retire. When he does, Sinnott will start and provide excellent skills as the starting TE.
18.8 RB Deneric Prince
CEH is shot. Prince is faster and should be the RB2 this season.
19.6 WR A.T. Perry
Part of the Saints stack I never knew I wanted lol!
20.8 WR Tre Tucker
Another best-ball WR who could have three or four big weeks.
