OF Braden Montgomery – Chicago White Sox
The 12th overall pick in last year’s draft was one of the key returns in the deal that sent Garrett Crochet to the Boston Red Sox. In his final season, with Texas A&M, Montgomery slashed .322/.454/.733 with 27 home runs and 85 RBI. The outfielder’s ability to hit for average and power makes him a great prospect for fantasy baseball. Montgomery has featured in 62 games at A+ and A, slashing .275/.359/.468 with nine home runs and 45 RBI. He will finish the season at AA, but an area of improvement will be swings-and-misses given his 24% strikeout rate. However, Montgomery has a keen eye for the strike zone, and his 12% walk rate shows his ability to work the count. The White Sox outfield prospect should reach the Majors following the 2026 All-Star Game, and he has the tools to produce power-hitting numbers while posting a very healthy batting average.
1B Bryce Eldridge – San Francisco Giants
Eldridge is stating his case of reaching the Majors by the end of this season. He finished 2024 slashing .291/.374/.516 with 23 home runs and 92 RBI between four levels (A, A+, AA, AAA) in the minors. This season, between AA and AAA, Eldridge is slashing .257/.324/.475 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI. The monster left-handed hitter possesses fantastic raw power, but he must lower his 32% strikeout rate before he receives his call to the Giants. Eldridge is well on his way to developing into a must-have fantasy baseball player, leaving one to wonder why Boston didn’t start with the first base prospect in their return for Rafael Devers.
RHP Chase Burns – Cincinnati Reds
Drafted second overall in last year’s draft, Burns needs to be added in all fantasy baseball leagues. Burns started this season at A+ before quickly moving to AA and AAA. Burns has made 13 starts, producing a 1.77 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, and 89 strikeouts in 66 innings. The right-hander’s velocity has been his calling card, with his fastball sitting in the high-90s while touching 102 MPH. The blossoming prospect has shown he can already be viewed as a pitcher, not a thrower, as his slider is one of the best secondary pitches in the minors. The Reds are playing for a Wild Card spot, and Chase Burns will find himself with Cincinnati following this year’s All-Star game.
RHP Nolan McLean – New York Mets
The New York Mets’ starting rotation has been the best in Major League Baseball this season. That said, right-handed prospect Nolan McLean will find his way to New York this season. Between AA and AAA, McLean has a 2.08 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 65 strikeouts in 65 innings. His mid-90s fastball can touch 98 MPH, but his slider has been an elite secondary pitch. Including his cutter, change, and curve, the young righty possesses a five-pitch repertoire ready for the Majors. The Mets are awaiting Sean Manaea’s 2025 debut, but Nolan McLean is a prospect to monitor as he can produce for fantasy baseball teams during the latter stages of the 2025 season.
