I’ve been saying it for the better part of a month, but this time it’s serious…This is Football Season. There’s been a college game already, and the final preseason NFL games have been played. A week from Thursday is Opening Night, and the calendar turns to September on Saturday. And if there was ever proof that Summer is over, Dunkin is selling Pumpkin Spice coffee.
That said, some of you still care about two-start pitchers to snag. And at this time of year, if you are in a keeper league, you should be mindful of potential pick-ups that may help you in 2025.

This week, there are four pitchers for your consideration:
Mitchell Parker-Washington Nationals: Parker is 7-7 on the season with 104 Ks, a 4.25 ERA, and a solid 1.25 WHIP. On Monday, he has a tough matchup against Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and the rest of the Bronx Bombers.
Kyle Gibson-St Louis Cardinals: Other than a slightly elevated 1.36 WHIP, his other numbers have been solid. He’s 7-5 on the season, with 126 Ks and a 4.22 ERA. His starts this week are difficult, facing off against the Padres and Yankees.
Brant Hurter-Detroit Tigers: Hurter has had four appearances this season and has a 1-1 record, but he hasn’t made a start. He’s been used as a bulk reliever for the Tigers, but he will be making his first starts this week. He’s struck out 17 hitters in 17 innings and has a dynamite 0.79 WHIP and a solid 3.57 ERA.
Davis Martin-Chicago White Sox: Let’s face it, this season has been a disaster for the White Sox. Martin may be something to look forward to in 2025. He has still yet to get his first win in four starts, but he has 22 Ks in 22 innings pitched. And other than an elevated 1.39 WHIP due to some control issues, he’s been quite solid. He has a promising 3.22 ERA in his small sample size.
