Rams GM Makes Bold Statement Regarding Head Coach Sean McVay

After suffering an ankle injury late in training camp that initially looked concerning, the second-year running back has returned to Los Angeles. Rams general manager Les Snead just made it crystal clear how highly the organization values head coach Sean McVay.

In a recent interview with 60 Minutes, Snead was asked what it would take for the Rams to consider trading McVay, and his answer was as bold as it gets: not even five first-round picks would be enough.

Sean McVay is essentially untouchable

Snead explained that there is no traditional trade value for McVay, making it clear that the Rams have no interest in even entertaining the idea of moving their head coach.

When asked if three first-round picks would be enough, Snead said no. Four? Still no. Five?

“Still not pullin’ the trigger, not for four, not for five,” Snead said.

That is quite a statement considering the value of five first-round selections in the NFL.

But it also speaks to what McVay has meant to the Rams since taking over in 2017.

Rams have built a powerhouse around McVay

Since McVay became head coach, the Rams have reached two Super Bowls, won one championship and appeared in three NFC Championship Games. He also has 10 career playoff victories, the most by an NFL head coach before turning 40.

The partnership between Snead and McVay has also allowed Los Angeles to build one of the most talented rosters in the NFL.

The Rams entered the 2026 season as Super Bowl favorites after adding even more star power, including Myles Garrett and the returning Aaron Donald. Matthew Stafford is coming off an MVP season, while Puka Nacua remains one of the league’s premier young receivers.

And that is ultimately why Snead’s comments make sense.

Draft picks are valuable, but finding a head coach capable of consistently competing for championships is incredibly difficult.

The Rams clearly believe they already have one.

Five first-round picks apparently wouldn’t be enough to convince Los Angeles to give him up.
