The calendar has turned from April to May, so let’s look back on who the April MVP was for every American League Team

Baltimore Orioles – OF Cedric Mullins

He is a free agent at the end of the season and has gotten off to a hot start in his walk year. He has been the Orioles best hitter and plays an elite CF.

Boston Red Sox – SP Garrett Crochet

Crochet has been everything the Red Sox were hoping for when they traded for him. He is a true ace and gives them a chance to win every time he takes the mound.

New York Yankees – OF Aaron Judge

This one is fairly obvious. Max Fried is having a great year, but Judge has been insanely good to begin the season.

Tampa Bay Rays – 1B Jonathan Aranda

Aranda is hitting for surprising power, but it’s his average and OBP numbers that jump off the page so far.

Toronto Blue Jays – OF George Springer

Springer had a down season a year ago, and although the HR numbers arent there yet, his average and OBP are the best on his team.

Chicago White Sox – 2B Brooks Baldwin

The White Sox are a really bad team, with not much good to speak of. Baldwin has had a solid month, though and by process of elimination, he is their April MVP.

Cleveland Guardians – OF Steven Kwan

By season’s end, Jose Ramirez will likely be the team’s MVP, but through a month of the season, it’s Kwan. He is an on-base machine, swipes bags, and has hit for power.

Detroit Tigers – 1B Spencer Torkelson

I could have easily gone with Skubal or Mize here, and although Tork has slowed down a bit, his offensive production in April has been outstanding.

Kansas City Royals – SP Kris Bubic

Bubic has had an incredible month. I am not sure if he can keep up this success all season long, but right now, he is leading this Royals starting rotation.

Minnesota Twins – SP Pablo Lopez

Lopez has been great for the Twins. If they could just generate offense more consistently, they wouldn’t be such a horrible team.

Athletics – 1B/OF Tyler Soderstrom

Soderstrom is ripping the baseball. He has been a pleasant surprise so far this season, as have most of the A’s.

Houston Astros – SP Hunter Brown

Brown has become the staff ace for the Astros and is an early Cy Young candidate.

Los Angeles Angels – OF Mike Trout

The batting average is still low, but Trout is driving the baseball and leads the team in most of the important batting stats.

Seattle Mariners – 3B/DH Jorge Polanco

Cal Raleigh was another option for me here because of his big HR total, but Polanco has put together an incredible month with eye popping numbers.

Texas Rangers – SP Tyler Mahle

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – AUGUST 06: Tyler Mahle #51 of the Texas Rangers throws a pitch against the Houston Astros in the first inning at Globe Life Field on August 06, 2024 in Arlington, Texas. (Photo by Tim Heitman/Getty Images)

He has been the Rangers best SP through the first month and has given them production that they weren’t counting on.
