These are 10 storylines to watch for this weekend at WrestleMania 41:
Cody Rhodes
The Universal champion steps into the ring to defend his title against John Cena on Sunday Night’s main event. The deck is stacked against Cody with the Rock’s and his plan to dethrone the champion. It’s hard to bet against Cody, and I feel that “Stone Cold” Steve Austin may have something to do with the bottom line on this one. My prediction is Austin thwarts the Final Boss’s plan, helping Cody retain the championship.
John Cena
There’s a pathway that John Cena wins and breaks Ric Flair’s record of 16 world championships. If, for some reason, Austin can’t help Cody, the Final Boss may get his way, crowning Cena as the greatest champion of all time. For me, I’ve always felt that the WWE, as a whole, never really cared about Flair’s legacy, and it’s like them to just bury it and WCW with it. Hey, what can I say? I’ve been a WWE fan through and through, always.
Roman Reigns
Roman showed up and wrecked shop on RAW until Rollins gave us a flashback to when he turned on the SHIELD. I’ll get to that but Roman is kind of an underdog in this match but you can believe there’s a new path being carved for the OTC. I still feel that he could have been excluded from this feud for now but since he’s in it, I love that he laid everyone out, including his “Wise man.”
C.M. Punk
Favor or not, Roman showed he has no friends in this match on Saturday night’s main event. C.M. Punk has been back and forth with losses and wins and it almost looks like he should easily win with the help of his friend Paul Heyman. That can totally happen but for me I’m about to blow your mind with my next take which is why I think Punk doesn’t win.
Seth “Freakin” Rollins
You can probably tell that Seth Rollins is my pick to win the Triple Threat match on Saturday. This will happen in one of two ways if I’m right. The first method is that Paul Heyman screws over Punk and Reigns by helping the Messiah go over. The second method I could see going down is that Rollins goes corporate again by signing a deal with someone else, who then helps Rollins win. As I alluded to earlier, that chair shot, the vest Rollins was wearing, and the overall feel of Rollins feels like that champion that was HHH’s puppet for a bit.
Jey Uso
My pick to win the World Heavyweight Championship match with Gunther is Jey Uso. Something still stinks about this but right now Jey can win this title and solidify him as “Main Event” Jey Uso. I don’t think any shenanigans will happen but I could see Jimmy helping Jey if Imperium decided to reunite for one night. Jey has lost three times to Gunther which is why he wins the fourth matchup, matching the letters in his favorite word, YEET!
Bron Breakker
It feels like Bron Breakker has the world against him but he’s fine with that because like a brick wall, nothing stands after his spear. However, he doesn’t have to lose his title, but I don’t see why anyone else deserves his Intercontinental Championship. Bron is an amazing character with charisma and amazing potential. Bron wins and I wouldn’t mind if he pointed all three of them at once, as long as the rest of Judgment Day keeps their nose out of it. Yes, I’m talking to you Carlito.
Randy Orton
Right now, Kevin Owens is taking pictures of him preparing for surgery, and Randy Orton still doesn’t have an opponent. Smackdown should solve that but like I mentioned in my Power Rankings article from earlier in the week, this is all a ploy by Owens. No matter who Randy faces at Wrestlemania, you can bet Owens is showing up to make sure Orton loses that match. That will help fuel the feud leading to Backlash, which is in Randy’s hometown of St. Louis. Hence the poster that was released today with Orton surrounded by vipers.
LA Knight
LA Knight is my pick to win this match but I really think he’s going to lose due to Jacob Fatu’s family. Knight doesn’t deserve that but I feel he can overcome it and still win. He’ll have to be on his feet and with the help of someone, he can overcome those odds. I ain’t like his odds regardless and even though my heart says yeah, my mind is saying blah. Knight just needs someone to help, but who? We’ll see this weekend so buckle up because this ride is going to be bumpy.
Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair came back from an injury to claim her throne on another unsuspecting opponent in Tiffany Straton. The Women’s champ wasn’t going down without a fight as she went off-script last week bringing up Charlotte’s failed marriages and men in her texts. This sauce was left on hot until the best was cranked up on Smackdown when Flair went after Stratton in the garage. Kayfabe or not, this feels real and why I have always said other companies do it great, but WWE always does it better. WOOOOOOOO!
