The New York Giants came into the season feeling anew with Daniel Jones signed and Saquan Barkley finally traded. With all of that baggage off their plate, the Giants thought that this past wouldn’t bite them and certainly not after drafting Malik Nabers. Unfortunately for them their past decisions came back to bite them all. They went 3-14, Barkley torched them like he was Cinder from Killer Instinct. From bad decisions to poor play design, the Giants owner still decided to keep both Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll for the 2025 season. This couldn’t get any worse, right?
QB: Daniel Jones
Worse could be signing your future quarterback only to drop him after going 2-8 on the season. Danny “No Dimes” Jones has been a wreck most of his career outside a few shining moments. What I remember about him for myself is never getting the ball to his elite players and continuously making bad decisions. The fact the Giants signed this guy over Saquan Barkley will always be one of the worst decisions this organization had ever made. I’ll also throw in that I’ve never liked his “Dimes” name either and honestly he reminds me of T.J. Rubley, irrelevant.
RB:
Both Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy started the season in that order on the depth charts, but after a few touches, you could already see Singletary was going to play second fiddle. Combined they accumulated 1,679 total yards with 10 touchdowns, which isn’t bad for a team that has to put up with a dune rat for a quarterback.
WR: Malik Nabers
The Giants got everything they expected by drafting Malik Nabers. In 15 games, Nabers caught 109 receptions for 1,204 yards, and eight touchdowns. With the off-season here for the Giants, it’s imperative that they find a signal-caller and some other help if Nabers is to continue this great start to his career in the NFL.
Defense:
The team of Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux proved to be formidable when they were on the field together. Defensively Burns did improve the pass rush helping with the pass defense overall taking them from 27th to 8th. However the run defense was shredded by mistakes and missed tackles leading to a 24th rank overall. A lot of this wasn’t entirely their fault since the offense was inept so next year you should see their defense improve.
Coaching: Brian Daboll
How Brian Daboll still had his job is surprising since but he isn’t the only one to blame and I feel that the organization is giving him another shot. The former 2022 NFL Coach of the Year has had his ups and downs but since that year has been down. In the past two seasons Daboll has a 9-25 record combined which hopefully wakes him up. We can’t forget that Daboll was a big part in making Josh Allen successful, but going forward he’ll need to find a quarterback that he can trust in before it’s too late.
