NFL: How The Kansas City Chiefs Stole Another Playoff Win

The Chiefs were outgained on offense by over 100 yards by the Houston Texans yesterday in their divisional-round playoff matchup, yet they still came away with a win. The Texans are the first team in NFL history to outscore their opponent by that many yards, commit no turnovers, and still lose a playoff game. So, how did the Chiefs pull this off?

Kareem Hunt Could Have Been Signed By Anyone

Hunt was held down most of the day until two huge runs in the 4th quarter that helped the Chiefs ice the game. Hunt wasn’t even on the roster when the season began; he was signed because Pacheco got hurt, and he earned a big role for himself. Hunt was the RB who scored the TD in this game and had double the amount of yards as Pacheco

Mahomes Gets All The Calls

Call it a conspiracy if you want to, but Patrick Mahomes continues to get all the key calls to go his way. Two terrible roughing-the-passer calls completely changed this game.

Did I Mention Mahomes Gets All The Calls? While Others Don’t?

If you watched the Lions and Commanders game last night, you saw a defenseless Jared Goff take an illegal hit to the head, and no flag was thrown. On that play, the Commanders returned a Goff interception for a TD, which completely flipped the game on its head. The opposite can be said for the Chiefs, who were gifted first downs with horrible calls that weren’t close to being roughing the passer and extended drives that eventually led to points.

Chris Jones and The Defense Racked Up Sacks

We can make excuses all we want about Mahomes and the Chiefs getting all the calls. It might even be true based on who you ask, but the one thing that is not disputable is that the Chiefs defense is fantastic. They pressured C.J. Stroud all game long, sacking him 8 times and forcing one fumble (that was recovered by Stroud’s teammate).

Kelce Always Performs In The Playoffs

He put together a 100-yard performance in this game. He is now the all-time leader in receptions in the postseason. He had a solid season, but when the playoffs begin, he flips a switch.
