The 2024 Atlanta Falcons were solid this year for both fantasy football and their fans, with an 8-9 record. With the arrival of Kirk Cousins and drafting Michael Penix Jr., the Falcons were optimistic about their year. What happened was a mid-season slump that led to the benching of Cousins and the door opening for Penix’s future. However, we shouldn’t forget about some of the players who did have a great season regardless of the outcome record wise. Going into the 2025 season, the Falcons have a lot of young players returning, and if Penix Jr. can progress, they could have a shot at making the playoffs next year.
QB:
Kirk Cousins
Up until his benching, Cousins did have some great games this season, but outside of two four-touchdown games, he was unbearable. Cousins had five games with no touchdowns leading to many fantasy players bailing on him early. He’s no longer in the Falcons future but wherever he goes, Cousins will expect you to like it, or not.
RB:
Bijan Robinson
Bijan Robinson was fantasy gold last year when it came to consistency mixed in with explosive games. Robinson finished the season with 1,456 rushing yards, 61 receptions, 431 receiving yards, and 15 total touchdowns. If the Falcons can be a lot more competitive next year, you will see Robinson’s numbers grow, making him a target in any fantasy leagues.
WR:
Drake London
Drake London had a great year and was one of my recommended targets for fantasy football last season. The outcome was 100 receptions for 1,271 receiving yards while scoring nine touchdowns. When Penix stepped in at the end of the season, London didn’t miss a beat which is promising going forward.
Darnell Mooney
Darnell Mooney stepped up as a viable threat in the Falcons offense last year. Playing second fiddle to London, Mooney caught 64 passes for 992 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Mooney’s excellent route running was the key to his season and he isn’t stopping any time soon.
Defense:
Kaden Elliss
After being picked over and shoved aside in many IDP leagues, Kaden Elliss showed why he should be respected. Elliss recorded 151 total tackles, five sacks, and one interception. As the heart of the Falcons defense, Elliss and his teammates ranked 15th against the run last year, making them a solid defense other than the secondary.
Coaching:
Raheem Morris
In his first year, Raheem Morris did well with an 8-9 record and successfully got Robinson the ball. Although he and the organization made some questionable moves, everything worked out for them in the end. With the recent hiring of Jeff Ulbrich for defensive coordinator, the Falcons he can bring that swag like what he did with the Jets the past three seasons. The Falcons can be an exciting team to watch next year so let’s see who they add and if they can make that next step.
