Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers: Week 22

We are now into September which officially means it’s football season. Opening Night is next Thursday and college football has already begun. Fewer MLB teams are still in the playoff race and fewer of you are still in your fantasy baseball leagues, and now that September is here, many league deadlines have passed.

But for those of you who are still chasing a championship and can make FAAB moves, I’ve found one lonely pitcher who’s scheduled to make two starts who may be available to you, and worthy of picking up.

LHP Reid Detmers, Los Angeles Angels

Detmers is only owned in about half the leagues out there so you have a 50/50 shot that he’ll be available to you. He was a sleeper to start the season, but it became evident early on that his stuff was lacking. On the season he’s only 3-10 with an ERA north of 5.00 and a WHIP sitting at 1.40. His only saving grace has been his strikeout ratio. He’s averaging 10.3K/9ip.

With that said, he’s pitched better of late. In his last three starts, he’s gone 1-1 with a 3.31 ERA. Although he has a tough matchup against the Orioles, Detmers is a far better option than the White Sox’s Jesse Scholtens or the A’s Ken Waldichuk.
