OF Jasson Dominguez, New York Yankees
Dominguez received his first call to the Yankees on September 1, 2023. Eight games were a small sample size, but the excitement was present as the young slugger posted four home runs in 31 at-bats. A left oblique injury caused him to miss a month in late June. Nearly ready for another call-up this season, the 21-year-old has slashed .316/.371/.518 with six home runs and 17 RBI between A, AA, & AAA. Tied in the AL East, Dominguez’s bat would be a massive addition to the Yankees lineup as they make their push for the playoffs. He will be an immediate add in redraft leagues, and dynasty owners are eager for the Yankees to reward Dominguez with his second Major League promotion.
SS Max Muncy, Oakland Athletics
The 25th overall pick in the 2021 draft is inching closer to his callup with the A’s. Muncy finished the 2023 season slashing .275/.353/.411 with ten home runs, 62 RBI, and 13 stolen bases between A+ and AA. AAA Las Vegas was the young shortstop’s final minor league stop, and he has performed well, slashing .268/.361/.480 with eight home runs, 29 RBI, and four stolen bases. Starting to tap into his power potential, he can become a 25+ home run hitter per season. Defensively, his strong arm makes him a lock to start at shortstop in the Majors. Should he receive his call within the next month, he can provide production for teams looking to add a bat off waivers in redraft leagues. Muncy resembles Dansby Swanson of the Chicago Cubs and former Major League shortstop Jed Lowrie.
LHP Sean Sullivan, Colorado Rockies
The Rockies have a flamethrower in top prospect Chase Dollander, but fantasy owners should not sleep on left-handed prospect Sean Sullivan. At 6’4”, 190lbs, one would expect his leverage to garner high velocity, but that is not the case with Sullivan. His fastball sits in the very low 90s, but his changeup is the best in the Rockies minor league system. The 2023 2nd round pick has feasted on minor league hitters in 2024, posting a 2.06 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and 103 strikeouts in 87.1 innings between A+ Spokane and AA Hartford. His slider has work to be done, as consistency is a struggle, but the lefty has a chance to reach Denver during the 2025 season. Fantasy owners should look at Sullivan as a Drew Smyly-type pitcher with more upside.
RHP Jose Gonzalez, Texas Rangers
Signed in May 2019, the 23-year-old is making a name for himself this season. His mid-90s fastball and electric slider have been key pieces to him, posting a 1.94 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 105 strikeouts in 78.2 innings. A glaring statistic is his 15 free passes, as he has shown great ability to maneuver the strike zone. The young righty is coming off a June 8 start that saw him reach a career-high 11 strikeouts. Yet to feature on Texas’s top prospect rankings, Gonzalez will make the jump after this season concludes. The Rangers already feature pitching prospects Kumar Rocker, Brock Porter, and Jack Leiter, but Gonzalez should become a household name after this season. All fantasy baseball players should monitor Gonzalez’s movement moving forward, and should Texas eventually move him to a high-leverage bullpen role, fantasy baseball managers could be looking at the next electric closer in both Major League Baseball and fantasy baseball.
