Every week, I try to find players who could be sitting on the waiver wire and are worth picking up for this week based on their matchups. Here’s what I have for this week!
QB: Aaron Rodgers, Jets
He had his best game as a member of the Jets last week and could build off it this week in an amazing matchup. The Jets will go into Jacksonville, where the weather will be warm, and they will face a Jags defense that ranks 31st in the NFL against the pass and 29th in points allowed. The Jags also rank 31st in fantasy football against the QB position.
QB: Cooper Rush, Cowboys
Rush and the Cowboys offense have been much better over the past 3 weeks, and they have another good matchup this weekend against a Panthers defense that ranks last in the league in points against and second last in the league in yards against. The Panthers also rank 26th in fantasy football against opposing QBs.
RB: Patrick Taylor, 49ers
He could be starting this week after Guerendo left with an injury in week 14. It seems that no matter who the RB is for the 9ers, they will produce in fantasy. The problem is that they might also get injured, as Taylor will be their 4th starting RB of the season. He will face a Rams team on TNF that will not only be tired but also rank 28th in the NFL against the run, ranking 28th overall.
WR: Quentin Johnston
He couldn’t catch for a few weeks, but with Ladd McConkey out on SNF, Johnston stepped up and made plays for the Chargers. Even with McConkey expected back this weekend against the Bucs, Johnston could be in for another big game, seeing that the BUcs rank 24th in fantasy football against WRs and 30th in the NFL against the pass.
WR: Xavier Worthy, Chiefs
He and the Chiefs face the Browns this week, which is a good matchup for WRs. The Browns rank 25th in fantasy football against the position, and Worthy has been more involved in the offense over the past 4 weeks, scoring at least 9 PPR points per game. He has explosive speed and can break a big play any time he touches the ball.
TE: Chig Okonkwo, Titans
He has a good matchup this weekend against a Bengals defense that ranks 29th in fantasy football against the TE position. The Bengals also rank 27th against the pass and 28th in points allowed per game.
DST: Commanders
They are well rested coming off their bye week, and they will be facing a 3rd string QB on a team that is already without their top WR and gadget man, Taysom Hill.
